How Long Does Term Life Insurance Last?

How long does a term life policy provide coverage?

Term life is temporary, so it lasts for a specific period of time.

Some term life policies provide coverage until age 65 or 70, with level premiums the first 10, 15, 20 or 30 years you are insured.

In addition, term life may allow you the option of renewing your policy when the initial term expires.

So, if you have a level term life insurance policy with level premiums for 10, 15, 20 or 30 years, when that term ends, you may renew your term life policy for another term (usually 10 years), but the renewal premium will increase, based on your age at renewal.

So, if you buy a 20 years term life policy and decide you need coverage for another 10 years, you may renew your policy when it expires.
